postcards part 2...

as promised, postcard number two...

this time vibrant colours, reds and orange and pink all scribbled together with my embellisher, a piece of net holding down all the loose ends till they are meshed together...have to be careful and remove the pins!

then the fun of stitching, adding in even more colour, but leaving the new 'fabric' fairly loose and textured...

as with the first postcard I painted up a piece of paper, this time printing it against a piece of corrugated cardboard which created a nice ribbed appearance so it wasn't a 'flat' black...

and this of course led to a whole lot of printing fun which diverted me for a while...I may show some of this next time, I even started a new sketchbook! I love how one thing leads to another, and having paints out is just so tempting...

my lovely sewing machine which I keep just for stitching paper and other 'naughty' things then stitched the layers together, first in black, then I decided a contrasting pink would be better...

and here are the two postcards finished , achieved and done...hopefully leading the way to more creativity and fun and more completed artwork this year, working small certainly helps. We shall see...

hope you're having a creative fun week too...

  1. These are lovely Emma, I love the contrast between them. I'm naturally drawn to the white but I love the pop of the pink against the black.

  2. thanks Helen, I enjoyed doing them, and I think they represent the two parts of my art...gentle and subtle and then wild colour! I love your work at Gallery artemis in the exhibition, beautifulx
