you know the sort of thing, when your house feels 'stuck' how turning out a cluttered drawer or cupboard or even a whole room can shift that stuckness and bring in a nice clean fresh feeling. The same when your head is full of too many jumbled words and ideas how going outside and taking a walk in fresh air brings calm and a sense of clarity.
And how wonderful that Nature is so healing; just a short walk along the road shows me the tiniest and most beautiful of details, which brings a new focus.
I feel so grateful for everything that I'm learning, and have been over the last 16 or so years. How important it is to daily try doing things differently, or doing things that are different, to keep our energy flowing and circulating. Even simple things like eating seasonal food so we vary our diet, using our non-dominant hand to do routine actions, or perhaps changing how we dress or wear our hair, or even how we write.
I have certainly been feeling that this is the way forward for me this year,as you may have noticed in this blog! I have even toyed with the idea of not blogging to see what difference that would make, but somehow I keep coming back to this old friend, but I feel I am approaching it differently, more freely, and maybe that will keep the energy here flowing...
My work too is under review as I feel the urge to change and evolve what and how I create artistically, to open up to my intuition and to do things differently so that I can give of my highest potential whether it's teaching a workshop or drawing, mark making, stitching...or glueing and sticking! Challenging myself to try new ways, new media or new colours. Showing up for life is the same as showing up for my work; change and difference keep the energy and freshness flowing and me moving forwards...into the unknown!
The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work. Emile Zola
SO here's some playing with threads and fabrics using the craziest colours I could find, with no time for overthinking, just cut and stitch...
Something different...I have no idea where I'm going, but the journey sure is scenic!
I trust that you too are enjoying your journey; it's great to have you alongside me here, with my random ramblings and jottings...
