inspiration in simple things...

a lawn mower has been heard in the village today, a cheery if noisy optomistic harbinger of spring...it is still only March and still cold, but today there was real warmth in the sun...and that is such a welcome hopeful sign after long months of wearing many layers, and a hat, indoors!

It such a joy to walk along the road and see all the signs of new life...I never tire of the changes of seasons, no matter how many times I see buds or lambs, it make my heart skip and my head fill with plans for warmer days and feeling freer in body and spirits...

In the garden forgotten crocuses in neglected pots still push up and pop with joyful colour...

and surprise us all!

indomitable daffoldils are yellowing up the roadside....

and I had to smile at the first dandelion...a glorious bloom bursting with energy!

and the sometimes shy celandines which only smile in sunshine...

and green is the other shade brightening the hedgerows, here the seedheads of snowdrops, often overlooked give a zing against the darker leaves...

 and moss, such a colour!

a solitary sheep grazing down the field has a secret...

when I got closer, two little white blobs appeared...ahhh!

and you can see how sharp the trees still are, still in winter starkness, but the light is everywhere on a day like today, even the thorny branches are lit up...

and for anyone of artistic bent, there is inspiration everywhere, here I stopped to look at the in-lamb ewes, all mothers to be patiently waiting in the big new shed of a neighbour and spotted this glorious iron sheeting...I just love the lines and all the different colours...and the rust!

but I dare not start yet another line of enquiry as I seem to have rather too much going on at the moment. I need to keep focussed, but of course a photo can be stored away and the image filed in my head for future use...and creating a textile response can wait until all the other projects are finished...or not!

I have my ticket booked for the Fashion, Embroidery and Stitch show in Birmingham later on this week...will you be going? Maybe I'll see you there...can't wait!

wishing you a creative week...
