The Knitting and Stitching Show

is sooo big it can take you till next year's show to get all the way found and then there would still be things you miss!! I have been going to the Harrogate show for the last few years with Husband of Patience and Daughter Mine...he goes round once and then sits with the newspaper in the Grand Theatre conducting the annual Man Count! She is now doing A level Textiles so shares my passion and we just go round and round till we meet ourselves back where we started, and then may do once more for luck, just to return to that special stand...now where was it?!

My navigation this year was amazing, and I came home with head buzzing with bags of inspiration (not saying just how much I spent!)

It is truly a feast, something for everyone, ...the Galleries were just brilliant (again) and my special favourite is the Art Van Go area where you get to see Artists in Action

here's a little of what caught my eye this year...

so much to admire, be inspired by, stimulated even shocked by...lots of beautiful work, plenty of visual comments on all aspects of life including some hard hitting political work...great to see that knitting and stitching is not only wonderful craft but also art with passion! A Great BIG Thanks to the Organisers and all who take part.

now where's my 2015 diary, must get the date for next year's show booked in...might see you there!

Have a great weekend (I've got my feet up to recovering!)

front and back...

just playing in my studio with fabrics...making a sample ready for a workshop...I chose some colours...pinnned and stitched down...and look where it went...

with some free machining a landscape appeared ...which seemed to need a moon and a tree...inspiration came from nowhere...

and when you turn over the work..I love the back too...so it's like two for the price of one

just how much gold stitching to add? when to stop?

I tried scanning the work...it made it strangely flat and the colours changed...it became a different piece somehow, abstracted, rather more moody...

questions arose...should it be portrait or landscape?

what does it look like in a frame?

I leave you with a happy random autumnal tree in moonlight...
rather magical don't you think?

have a magical weekend...

it's Friday night and I'm loving...

...being in my studio and back at my sewing machine...

It seems so long since I last blogged from a real working day and today I managed to get myself the studio (it got a BIG tidy up earlier on in the week) and get creating and stitching. I have had some lovely trips away with friends and family and there seems to be loads to tell you about...but just for today I thought I'd do another thing I haven't done for ages...a Friday night gratitude spot!

So it's Friday night and I'm loving...

the simple pleasure and inspiration I get from the ecclectic collection of items around the studio...an art card from a dear friend and some curly branches and oak leaves

this beautiful tiny birds nest

a textured soft blue vase against the reddening hue of scrolling twisty autumn leaves

a small pot of shells reminding of summery days by the sea

delicious layers of calico and scrim on brown paper...with simple stitching

just playing with fabric scraps and shells...

the feel and textures of fabrics in my hands...

layering up and creating new surfaces with my needle felting machine

my dear sewing machine for allowing me a little stitching and free machine embroidering with such ease...

being back on my blog...and with each and all of you, my dear readers...I am so grateful for you being here too!

I hope your Friday night is full of things you love...have a wonderful relaxing weekend...

I've got a creative workshop tomorrow...best go and tidy up again!
